The Think Tank: Intervention Development
Awareness without intervention is just observation. The MHISA Intervention Development committee was founded to build the tools our community has been missing.
Our flagship project is a South Asian–specific adaptation of standardized suicide prevention training. Where existing curricula were built on European-American population norms, ours integrates culturally-rooted help-seeking pathways, language around shame and family duty, and intervention scripts that respect intergenerational dynamics.
We are also building the first national South Asian mental-health provider database — a free, searchable directory of clinicians who share linguistic and cultural fluency with the community. The directory launches publicly in 2025.
Every intervention starts with research. Every research finding ends in a tool. That's the loop we're closing.
